Not just for beginners - George Laird - Napa, CA USA
This is a great book on the entire life cycle of making wine. It goes well beyond "the skin makes red wine red" into a good detail about each step of the process to make wine. We know a good deal about wine but found this book to be extremely informative and honestly I go back to it often as more things "click" in my head when being around wine. I'd rate this book really good for anyone from a novice to pretty experienced in wine. If you are an actual winemaker or grapegrower, you theoretically aren't the target market although I'd guess a few of them could use some good ole basics every once in a while too!

just ok - K. M Merrill - Forest Grove, OR, USA
I have a new baby q gas grill, and am reading alot of grilling books. I like the Weber book better, this has some strange advice....buying from the salad bar becuse you won't take a minute to cut up a carrot or zuchinni?
These cooks ignore calories! It feels very much like midwest cooking, heavy on sauces with sugar, if you are grilling to be healthy or lose weight this may not be the book for you.
I did get three usefull ideas, fish in foil! and grilled sandwhiches, and a new the falafel. I like the book, but not enough to keep it.
also the assumption of indirect heat and charcoal,,,, but cook on !

Kitchen and Cooking

The term "kitchen" has important implications, including practices and traditions in the kitchen and the general preparation of food and beverages. These practices and traditions are usually in a geographical region, and strongly influenced by other ingredients in this region, as well as by cultural habits (like religion). Use of chopsticks in the Far East, for example (also in line with the Confucian doctrine has requested)that the food served before they are cut into bite-sized portions. New technologies have also come into play in regional cuisine. New methods of production, storage, transportation, etc. coupled with increasing cultural interaction through immigration and travel restrictions lifted many of the old kitchen.

"Ethnic" food often depends on the supply of fresh ingredients from distant lands and has only recently been made possible by faster and cheaperBetter transport and storage, and other factors. The existence of foreign cuisine with local products allows the creation of new courts by the experiments of chefs. The kitchen is, for all these reasons, culturally important in many ways and is often associated with wine growing. Italian and French cuisine is very popular worldwide for its diversity and quality of its products.
