A necessity for every kitchen - J. Banville - Missoula, MT USA
I've used this book at least once a week for years. It's not designed for novice cooks, only, but for all cooks (and bakers!). I have a bookcase full of cookbooks and this is the only one that never gets put back on the shelf. It's helped me out of many a jam. Come to think of it, it helped me make jam. I love to look up an ingredient and get ideas for what to do with it. Need a pancake recipe? There's a great one in here. What to do with cabbage? The sweet and sour saute in here is wonderful. I once read it cover to cover over my morning coffee. It took me a few months, but I absorbed amazing information. I'm very picky and what I would say is this book is fabulously written and brilliantly structured. Do yourself a favor and buy it.

At Least They Tell You They're Probably Not Telling You Everything - Agent Seven - Phoenix, AZ United States
The first rule of BBQ Club? Don't talk about BBQ Club. I've been doing BBQ for about three years now, perfecting my own sauces, rubs and techniques. What I found in Peace Love and Barbecue is an atypical book that is more helpful than not. It is fun to read, very folksy and has lots of pictures. Its recipes are not uniformly good, neither are they all bad. This book, unlike other books I have read on the subject, winks at the reader a lot. It lets you know that no good BBQ master truly lets go all his secrets, even while purporting to be doing just that. It covers all types of BBQ, has a lot of good history in it and I would say it provides at the very least, a very solid starting point for anyone who is looking for a foundation to build on. It reads like it is more honest than other books on the subject, but when I compare my own personal experience with what is found in the book, I find some of the information to be very mainstream - and not quite correct, almost as if Mike is happy to leave you with conventional wisdom on the subject rather than really get down into the nitty gritty of what made him such a winner. Still, all-in-all, it's a marvelous book, my favorite BBQ book so far, and I highly recommend it.

Pain free and no meds in 6 days! - D. Cossio - CA, USA
I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and was diagnosed a year ago. I finally decided to look for alternative medacine when my doctor wanted to increase the dosage of my medacine and add another medacine even though I was feeling perfectly fine. I was taking methotrexate, predisone, and hydroxychloroquine. I read about this book and the mcdougal diet and checked it out from my local library. After starting a low fat veagan diet (mcdougal diet) and eliminating problem foods (conquering arthritis)I was pain free in six days!! I have now been on the diet for 27 days and am 98% pain free There are stil problem foods that i need to identify but i have not done the fast recommended in the book yet. I definitely recommend this book and look for it in your local library so you can try it without buying it. Also recommend the mcdougall diet lost 11 lbs in the 27 days so far went from 126 to 114 lbs!
